Katie Scott shares the latest fun and games from Wychelm’s social scene

I have a confession to make – I always hijack the March social. It’s my social. With my birthday usually hovering around Easter, I usually opt to take the entire month to celebrate, planning a variety of meals and drinks out and about with all of my nearest and dearest. Luckily for the members of Wychelm BC, that includes them as well, so our March social is always a bit of a toast to my birthday.

This year, I gathered the troops on Thursday 31st March for a tasty meal out at Romford’s Pizza Express, situated in

The Brewery. Meeting at 7.30pm, tummies were rumbling ready for food, and we couldn’t be more excited to get stuck in. We had nine people in total turn up, so a great amount for plenty of gossiping and catching up. Firstly, my ladies partner Kay was present and correct, also bringing along her lovely daughter and son in law who are regulars at our social events. Frank managed to tear himself away from watching West Ham long enough to enjoy a steaming lasagna while Nick settled down with a plate of doughballs to start. Helen was regaling us with school stories from her working day as Diane and I ordered matching leggara pizzas – don’t shoot me for watching the calories! Surprisingly, Noel was on time! This is now the second social where this has occurred so he is certainly developing a new trend – keep up the good work Noel!

With some rose bubbles in hand and a birthday toast delivered, we all ordered our meals. I went for the main course and dessert option, going for a pepperoni laden leggara pizza, followed by a decadent chocolate ice cream sundae and cheeky Baileys latte. Feeling deliciously full and spoilt rotten, I believe we all went our separately ways between 9pm and 10pm, with Nick kindly dropping me off home.

Thanks again team for the fantastic evening out! The next social is this Sunday as we head into Hornchurch for afternoon tea. You guys have seen me with dessert, you can only imagine how I am around cake and scones!

Do you have any ideas for upcoming social events? Is there something you reckon would be fun to do but we haven’t done it yet? Do you enjoy having them every month or do you want to tweak the frequency? Just get in touch and let me know and I’ll do my best to cater to the masses! It’s always great to get your feedback and thoughts so please let me know any and all ideas!  🙂
