It’s time to limber up, give the racket a polish and put your best trainer forward – the new season is just round the corner

While the rest of us may have been kicking back over these final few weeks of summer, match secretaries across Essex have in fact been beavering away, preparing the paperwork and setting the stage for a brand new season of competitive badminton between local clubs. Wychelm will be entering the same number of teams that we did last season, so that is a Mixed Doubles squad, Men’s Doubles squad and two Ladies Pairs, with our reserves waiting in the wings. The teams this year have also undergone a bit of a shake up, since we suffered numerous pitfalls with a high injury count in the close of last season which has seen some of our key players unfortunately take a step back. However, I am confident in the new formations and we have some great players in the mix. Matches this season will be played on Wednesdays at Frances Bardsley for the Mixed and Men’s, while the Ladies games will be on Mondays during normal club night.
For all squad players, below is the match fixture timetable, so you know where you are meant be and when! Frank will be giving you all paper copies as well, but just in case they get misplaced, eaten by the dog (or worse, your children), then here is a handy digital copy for your viewing pleasure. The fixtures have also been posted on the Facebook group, so you can also find them there if that is more accessible for you when you are out and about.
