Is there such a thing as style and support?
By Katie Garner
So, I have a slight problemo. As you can see by past posts, I take my trainers very seriously. For me, a trip to Decathlon to find some bog standard boring white jobs simply does not fit the bill. I like to make a statement with my footwear, and with recent fashion trends extending excitingly into the sporting world, it is now brilliantly easy to find a rainbow array of trainers for a range of sports after a mere Google search. In fact, white trainers are now harder to find, and good riddance in my books.
My latest trainers however are reaching the precipice, about to kick the bucket, holding on relentlessly – whichever way you put it, they are slowly but surely dying. The vibrant pink Adidas faithfulls have developed a rather unfetching hole in the big toe area on the left trainer – certainly not great for puddles and rather embarrassing when you pair them with contrasting bold socks. With the clock ticking and the hole growing greedily bigger, it’s time to once again crack into some trainer research.
Usually my first pit stop is always Adidas – I love the style of their trainers, the prices are reasonable for a designer sports brand and the fit is always nice and snug which I like. The only problem is narrowing down the selection…
The reviews absolutely rave about these smooth and lightweight running trainers. Designed using Adiprene technology to help propel your forward yet maintain foot support, these trainers also have a breathable mesh to let air get to your feet. Coming in a selection of colours, I’m rather partial to this pink and black combo, the price definitely very attractive considering the quality of the shoe.
I have a sneaking suspicion these are my favourite, most likely because they are most expensive pair of my top choices, and that’s just sod’s law when you are trying to keep an eye on your purse strings. But check these beauties out – with Climachill ventilation for your feet whilst running, the mesh upper snuggles on your foot for a comfy and supportive fit, while Adiprene technology adds extra cushioning for when you are pounding the pavements. Mainly black with accents of baby pink and white, these look like the bad boys of trainers.
Adipure 360 Control Shoes – £65
Boasting of a barefoot feel paired with a wielded upper support, this eye catching orange and pink pair aim to give support for fast, controlled movements without being weighty to wear. Defined as a training shoe rather than a running trainer, I’m not 100% sure about this one, so think it may be my least favourite, although I love the awesome colours.
So, what ones do people like best? Do I bust the bank balance come payday, or take on a more practical shoe?
